About Me:
Wings of Phloem is the name of my side project/solo project started up a year or so ago. I think it is important to inform you that quite of few songs I have uploaded were recorded in the hospital room of one of my best friends while she was very ill. She said if she died, she wanted my music to be the last thing she remembered hearing. The quality and singing may be poor, but it was recorded on a less than perfect system, so please overlook it.
I am also looking for vocalists to add to certain songs that are not complete. I feel it could be a wonderful chance for artists to collaborate in a casual way. If you are interested post a video response to the song, or PM me and we can set up another way. Enjoy.
BON IVER DISCUSSION:
I am deeply attached to writing and listening to music.
In case you are wondering, I will be writing an article in the spring with the drummer of my band, and some other authors about musical trends.
The article will attempt to provide evidence for why some immensely popular bands can withstand the test of time, and why others fade after a year.
I have chosen Justin Vernon's latest project: Bon Iver as my focus, because I have seen what he can do, and do not believe he is playing to his full potential. Along the way, I would like to see what people think: whether he is playing what he truly loves, or if he is playing to the trend, in order to appeal to a wider audience.
I have spent months on the Bon Iver comment section digging up opinions, and specifically the questions I would like answered are as follows:
1). Why does he play so passionately and with such invention live, but record such mellow, simple pieces in the studio?
2). How many of his fans really understand what they are listening to? Everyone seems to be in love with the guy, but how many actually appreciate the fact that he is playing 4 chords and still making it sound full, and how many just love it because it makes them remember something.
3). How many people will take the time to defend something they are passionate about? If you use the word "love" or "beauty" to describe his music, then surely you can elaborate on the feeling. If not, how can you be sure you love it?
All this will be incorporated as evidence in the article, and many quotes have and will be taken from actual fans, both positive and negative, to be used in the discussion of the article.
That is why I am all over the comments. Hope this clarifies it for you.
I deeply appreciate any and all support and contribution on the topic, no matter what - negative or positive.
