On Monday, 6th Feb, this loco was in charge of the 06:15 Carlisle to Barrow service, having travelled on this train between Workington and Millom.

This particular loco, along with 37423 are providing a passenger service on my local line in Cumbria.

The trial period, which began on 9th Jan, sees this new service put on to relieve overcrowding on Northern Rail DMU services for Sellafield workers.

This train is on a six week trial run so far, but is likely to become a permanent feature.

Last summer there were reports of over 130 Sellafield people trying to cram onto a single car 153 unit and this extra train is more than welcome.

Fully agree, I was in Strathclyde last month and went to Arrochar, and the Scotrail 156s are NOT suitable for a journey of this length, given the seats are lower & not as comfortable as the higher backed seats on Northern Rails 156s which operate in my neck of the woods in Cumbria....
