I never stop marvelling at all the tossers who comment on YouTube. These are old recordings, how the hell do you mean to say which voice is bigger, and does it matter?! The only way you can safely say which is the "bigger" voice, is putting them on stage next to one another, and have them sing to...

I find the tempo amazing! He can make even a piece of dull fluff like this sound interesting, THAT is great musicality! He was unbelievable! The rubati, the accelerandi, the ritardandi; All perfectly judged. A genius musician, truly.

This is horrible. This man's career saddens and angers me, and I find it inexplicable, that he sings at all, not to mention in big houses, with great conductors. Sometimes woofy, sometimes a scream, no line, no evenness of line, where's the support? ... it's all just bad and wrong.

They may have shared two roles, Kraus and Corelli, but they were definitely more suited to Kraus! Corelli could be a bit of a bull in a china shop, even with heavy spinto rep. This aria is however definitely Corelli's!

Well, I'm not a fan of Bergonzi's, but this is pretty bad even for him. no spin, sliding in and out of notes, a labored vibrato... the whole thing sounds very labored.. what happens to his vibrato on the last b flat? thumbs down.

Just for the sake of rightness, he's singing it a tone down, which in NO WAY diminishes his beautiful singing, but it makes comparisons impossible. This aria is fiendishly difficult, but somewhat less so a tone down, which means you can approach it very differently. So, please enjoy the singing, ...
