Bioencapsulation

The Laboratory of Biomaterials & Bioencapsulation is part of the Dept. of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology of Drugs at the University of Perugia. It focuses on the development of biomaterials and delivery systems for drugs, biological response modifiers, biotech products and cosmetics. The group carries out a number of third part activities, including: innovative formulations based on liposomes, microspheres, microcapsules, lipospheres emulsions and microemulsions. We offer experties for tissue engineering and cell encapsulation protocols (pancreatic islets, Sertoli cells, osteoblasts, etc.). We performe biocompatibility tests for the validation of biomaterials. The rapid prototyping section focuses on the design and development of small laboratory equipments for biotech applications and microencapsulation protocols.
