The Billy Webb band is centered around Billy Webb Jr. and Sr. Recently, Billy Jr. has also joined forces with long time friend, John Lisi from New Orleans. Whenever John is in town (southern California), you might see the Webb boys sharing the stage with good ole' Johnny boy, one of Nawlins' finest pickers. Billy Webb Sr. has been playing music since the early fifties. When he was 17, he decided to hit the road and wound up playing guitar with Bobby Fuller, (I fought the law) early in his career. From there, he eventually toured around the country playing Rock, Blues and Country.He has played with artists such as Charlie Daniels, Jerry Garcia, Elvis' band, Ricky Nelson, Kenny Rogers, Rich Dangel (The Fabulous Wailers), Larry Coryell and many more.... Billy Jr., catching on to his father's trade early on, was placed behind a drum kit at the age of 3. It didn't take long before he was sitting in with Pops at his gigs. He eventually picked up the guitar while he was in high school and starting jamming away from there. Together, they have completed 2 CDs. The first self titled disc was a collaborative blend of Alternative Music with a Blues/Rock foundation. Billy Jr. and a colleague, Roger Batin, cowrote most of the tunes and recorded them at Billy's home studio. Pops and some of his friends came in and added some of their sweet seasoning. One of those friends was Larry Knecktel, who was kind enough to lay down some piano and organ, as heard .. Hours. He has 27 gold records to his name, and is perhaps best known for his Grammy winning arrangement and playing on Bridge over troubled waters. Their latest album, Like Father Like Son, was more of a true collaboration of the Webbs, utilizing songs each of them had written, along with a few sentimental covers. The songs are salty, whether it be from the many years on Pop's odometer, or from a recent deep sea fishing excursion! (More on that later) Billy and his dad enjoy playing out as much as they do recording. You may catch them playing a corporate event, wedding, or jamming in a local Honky Tonk. Whatever the case may be, their bloodbound soul can't be mistaken!
