Unknown: They´re number one of the official German single charts for the third time running.
Ben: Here are the boys that call themselves Tokio Hotel. Here are Tokio Hotel!
The teenagers from Magdeburg are the stars of the German music scene in next to no time.
Bill: For the first time I saw people that sreamed my name. Who screamed the name of the band ah that was.... That was the biggest dream ever. Everything inside of me erupted in that moment.
Georg: Well, the video for Monsun was virtually released during the summer holiday and all of us went back to school as usual after the summer holiday.
However, their scholl is in a state of emergency. When the four guys turn up for their lessons they get besieged by fans, autograph hunters and journalists.
Tom: Suddenly there were hundreds of reporters, hundred of fans and no-one could basically do anything at school anymore. Neither could teachers teach, nor could students learn anything.
Bill: Then we... During breaks we were hiding in rooms, in the class rooms. The teacher locked the rooms and then the principle called us to her office pretty much straight away. She then said that we´d have to ´find a solution and it cant go on like this. No lessons cant be held here anymore´.
J.B. Kerner: You´ve left school now?
Tom: Yes.
Bill:Yes exactly, for a year now. Discharged for a year. Yes.
J.B. Kerner: Why? Didnt it work out with the schedule, or why?
Bill: Nope, not really. Well, everyday school life as usual was just not really possible anymore. Meaning there were just always fans outside the school and also lots of press and so on.
Bill: Of course it was awesome for us. I thought ´Wicked! Now I can really focus on the band only. Now I only have to do is whatever I want to do´.
Now theres only one way for Tokio Hotel´s career to go: straight upwards. It´s a childhood dream come true.

Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg constantly spend their school holidays in the recording studio now. Here they learn everything a pop star needs to know step by step.
Georg: And the atmosphere was really kind of familiar right from the start. We somehow had a small apartment above [the studio]. The four of us lived there and just started rehearsing.
Tom: During that time we got a taste of what could be like if maybe we´d ever be successful and would really to be together for 24/7.
Interviewer: You´ve just released a single. What is it called?
Tom: Eehm. It´s My Life.
Tom: To be at that age alone without parents in Hamburg, tp produce from time to time and we had some girls there and it was the time of our lives. During that time we completely blossomed out.
What have you been singing today?
Bill: Erm, we´ve recorded "Rette mich", a balld kind of song.
And people wereenthusiastic when you were singing?
Bill: Yes, incredible!
One and a half years later the dream of a record deal finalla yseem to be come true.
Bill: For a long time we didn´t know what would happen to it. Some day we just had all those songs and then we´ve said... ´Ey, we´ve got kind of like an album here. Meaning. we definitely have got as many songs´. And then... athe some point they said ´Ok, you know what? Were just going to play it to a record label´.
Now all the record label chiefs of the republic arrive to see the guys live.
Bill: We also absolutely wanted them to know that we could really make music, yes. Meaning, not that we produced something nice but could actually really make music.
Tom: We wanted to be professional and we´re totally relaxed, just like "That´s what we´re doing every day", right? "We´re also already like an old stager of the business".

Their looks didn´t get a lot of approval in secondary school either. There was a lot of trouble.
Bill: Teachers at the school told me that they wouldn´t teach me, the way I am looking and you cannot go to the P.E. lessons with make-up on and piercings.
But then Bill and Tom should be brought finally to the Reson.
"Such a behaviour is disrespectful and hurts the dignity of the teacher." "Since Tom violated the behavioural norm after being transfered to the parallel class."
Bill: The teachers tore us apart from each other in seventh grade, which was the worst experience at the school and from this day on no one could ever make that up to us by any chance because it was the worst thin that they tore us apart from each other.
Tom: We never showed that it was a tough time for us, we always were really strong and dominant outwards, we never took shit from anyone.
In their free time Bill and Tom began to live their common dream, they want to make music and started to work on their first songs.
Bill: I always used to like write. I always wrote letters to my mother and I liked to write things down and at one point there was a guitar in our room. Our stepfather put it there and said that he doesn´t have any use for it so he just put it there and we could take it if we wanted to. And Tom just took the guitar and started to play on it.
Tom: We were completely pain free, I have to say. The first accords, I could play, and Bill alreaddy started to write lyrics and those were really naive and really funny, when we listen to that stuff nowadays.
Bill: All the others wanted to become a dentist or a firefighter and I said that I wanted to make music. And everyone was like ´yeah, sure, Bill wants to make music, right´.
Tom: People laughed at us in the beginning. They thought we were cute and said ´Oh just look at these small boys´!
However, then the Kaulitz twins start making a name for themselves in Magdeburg and surroundings as well. They play at bans competitions and in small clubs, like the "Gröninger Bad".
