This is, bar none, the FINEST cover of a Buddy Holly song any artist has ever done. An absolutely brilliant arrangement — because frankly, Buddy's original is kind of lame (especially the organ solo in the middle of it!). Wonderful 12-string from Tony Hicks, and those great Allan-Graham harmonies...

I have loved this song since forever, or at least since "Thin Red Line" first came out. My favorite cut on the album, though many others are good too. Sparkling guitar, full harmonies on the chorus...it's perfect. I will join the chorus of those wondering why this album and the followup "Snap! Sn...

SYNDICATE OF SOUND - You
From 1965... famed for "Little Girl", the Syndicate of Sound were more than just a one trick pony... as this B-side (also on their only LP) tells us.

I was in a Woolworth's in Midland, Michigan in 1966. The record department had one of those automatic 45 players that would reject at the end of the disk and play the song over again if you left the arm up. They had this song playing, so I heard it over and over again...and loved it each time. I ...

I'm sure Lewis genuinely loved Stan Laurel. However, I understand that on the new Laurel and Hardy DVD set, Jerry makes some completely false statements about how the L&H partnership came to be that minimize Oliver Hardy, stating he was a laborer on the set when Stan "discovered" him. I can't und...

There is no denying that she is a bit flat on some of the notes, and this is also true of the studio version of the song. Nevertheless, it's an affecting performance, and I well remember it being played on AM Top 40 radio. I see someone beat me to the bit of trivia that Gale wrote this for her th...

I just heard this song for the first time in my life yesterday, on the grocery store Muzak of all places! It knocked me out, and I went looking for it. But none of the legitimate sources (iTunes, Amazon .mp3, Spotify) have it, so I'm grateful to be able to find it here. Fantastic song, laden with...

Thank you so much for these deconstructed Revolver tracks. They're just amazing. IMHO, this is the best album of all time. Among its many virtues, one that's seldom commented on is that this is The Beatles' greatest GUITAR album. One listen to this and your "She Said, She Said" proves this out. R...
