anzwertree, RE your, "Imagine a billion dice being dropped... According to your [my] logic, they wouldn't land anywhere. There wouldn't be a result because it would be very very very unlikely."

According to my logic the 1 billion dice would fall absolutely randomly. Any "unrandom" result would be less likely, more improbable. The less random the greater the improbability. So —What is the probability that an absolutely random Big Bang would produce the absolutely "unrandom", absolutely precise environment absolutely necessary for LIFE? Physics answers: Less than 1 chance in 10^10^123.

Johnicle2, I appreciate your reply. Re your: "there is no barrier on time within this calculation. There is all the time in the world for something like this to happen."

Astronomers calculate that the universe may be as much as 14 billion years old.

Re that ONE simple protein molecule forming at random in an organic soup—

In 1996, scientists around the world, "armed with their best computer programs, competed to solve one of the complex problems in biology: how a single protein, made from a long string of amino acids, folds itself into the intricate shape that determines the role it plays in life. Scientists have estimated that one average-sized protein, made from 100 amino acids, solving the folding problem would take 10^27 (a billion billion billion) years."

READ BOTTOM COMMENT FIRST

Or maybe, like me, you have no idea. If not, it would seem that that I was created without the possibility to believe and you were not. In which case, I was doomed from the start.

'You do not know what happens after you die. How do I know that? Because I don't know, and you do not possess information that I do not."
---Bill Maher, Religulous

I hope for a response. There is more still to be said and I hope we can mutually learn from each other.

Thank you

Finally, the only other option within our realm of comprehension is that life did not occur by chance but rather intentionally (God). However, if single celled life is difficult to come by, imagine what it must take for "the creator" of such complexity to come into being. Perhaps 10^1000? Or maybe you think that such an event is not uncommon, or at least common enough to follow. Then if God came into existence without overcoming impossible odds, than isn't it likely that there is more than one God, and in fact, Polytheism is actually the correct belief system.

Thank you for contacting me.

The first thing that I would say is simply a mathematical analysis. Which is "Infinity > 10^113" ... Certainly 10 to the power of 113 is massively improbable, but there is no barrier on time within this calculation. There is all the time in the world for something like this to happen.

The second thing I would say is that this number is driven from specific standards. Forming a certain time in a certain place, under certain conditions. Make the time infinite, the conditions infinite, and the locations comparably numerous, then the odds of such an event occurring are drastically reduced (the point of my original statement).
