This is the last of the MAGfest videos I have to put up and it's a special one. I managed to jam with Earthbound Papas' (Nobuo Uematsu's new band featuring other composers and former Black Mages members) drummer, Arata Hanyuda after hours in MAGfest's main concert room. We played Rush's "YYZ" and none of us have played it in years! So we all stumbled through a bit, but this was still an awesome experience.
You can see Nobuo Uematsu and Yoshitaka Hirota (bassist, also composer of Shadow Hearts trilogy) dance around on stage. Michio Okamiya (gutiarist, former Black Mages member) is watching and rolling up cables and Tsutomu Narita (keyboardist, composer of UnchainBlades ReXX) walks around and films us at points. Partway through the song, Video Game Orchestra's own director Shota Nakama picks up the guitar and joins in.
There were certainly several parts that I totally blew, but all of us were playing it for the first time in a while. It was just an awesome experience to play bass for possibly video game's most revered composer and have him and the band enjoy it! Also seeing him dance was great. :)
There's two camera angles and I tried to combine them, but the wide angle is a little far back and the up close cloverfield angle doesn't have the full song, so I left them as one-after-another.
Come to MAGfest next year when we play Tom Sawyer!
