Beyond The Pale : Outside the bounds of acceptable behavior.

The phrase "beyond the pale" dates back to the 14th century, when the part of Ireland that was under English rule was delineated by a boundary made of such stakes or fences, and known as the English Pale. To travel outside of that boundary, beyond the pale, was to leave behind all the rules and institutions of English society, which the English modestly considered synonymous with civilization itself.

A pale is a protected area or jurisdiction. To be outside or beyond it is to be outside of civilization--hence, uncivilized and with no expectation of civilized treatment.

My Version of the Poem "The Two Dead Boys"

Ladies and Gentlemen, skinny and stout, Let me tell you a tale I know nothing about, The Admission is free, so pay at the door, Now pull up a chair and sit on the floor. One Bright day in the middle of the night, Two dead boys woke up to fight. Back to back they faced eachother, drew out their knives and shot eachother. One was blind, the other couldn't see, so they chose a STRAWMAN as their referee.

A blindman came to see fair play, Two lame men came to carry the dead boys away, A mute psychotic shrieked in fright, with words of joy at this ghastly sight. A paralyzed donkey passing by, kicked the blindman in the eye, knocking him through the missing wall, into a dry ditch and drowned them all. A deaf policeman heard the noise, then came and killed those two dead boys. If you don't believe these lies are true, then aske the blindman...He saw it too
