On the 12th of July 2011 we visited Paul Simon in Mainz. The long journey (especially via train) from Salzburg to Mainz allowed us to take many fotos from this amazing landscapes., which you can see in the first few minutes of this clip. It was a quite funny day...you know...going through a totally strange city and trying to find the citadel. After a few attempts we decided to ask an older man (we thought he might be a professor) where to find the citadel. He reflected a moment, tried to explain and asked us very surprised: What do you want there? Our reply: Tonight there's going to be a Paul Simon concert there. He understood that and told us the way. Quite a funny and friendly guy. At the time of our arriving nothing had been blocked so we were able to watch the staff rigging everything up. To our sadness my girlfriend and I had to go back to the hotel because the tickets hadn't arrived yet and when we came back with our reflex camera and water bottles, the security had already blocked every entry. Paul was rehearsing which could be heard through the whole city. We had noticed him on our way back to the citadel and wondered where this strange sounds could came from. xD While waiting for the door opening it started to rain. Though were lucky enough to take our folding umbrella with us, we bought rain ponchos for 2euros apiece (-.-). Standing and waiting there was exhaustig, in particular if a guy periodically sings the words 'so beautiful or SO what' with his fake-british-accent and a very strange emphasis. They finally used to let us in after we were forced to threw away 3 or 4 new bought water bottles and leave them our good canon-camera. Thats why the video and later pics are in such a bad quality. But okay....we're now in there..let's try to buy 2 Simon-Shirts so we can remember this concert and find our places. Ohhhkay...never buy your tickets too late! Otherwise you pay about 200% more and get places and the second last row. xD Notwithstanding that Paul made a great show, we sometimes had difficulties to fully enjoy it because we're rigorous nonsmokers and my girlfriends body reacts very sensitive to smoke. That's why she got temperature (about 40!°) and angina on our way back...She actually had to stay in hospital so they could keep an eye on her. But back to Mainz. The concert ended late in the evening. The rechargeable battery of our mobile phone ended early in the evening... xD That's why you only see footage while the sun was still shining. After Pauls concert (oh..and before I forget abput it: The two guys in front of us - you can see them in the video - were real cuties. Maybe best friends or something like that..They went in and out togehter..they always looked at each other with very meaningful look to show and share their deep feelings about the songs. Just like my girlfriend and I the two guys refued to stand up and dance around when Paul played Diamonds. xD I wanted to tell them that they could find the concert on youtube the next day but I knew that I would be far too lazy about doing the video ;)) we went to a deserted Subway, ate some veggie delights there without cheese and talked to this very nice emplayee from india. He understood our vegan attitude and gave us a coupon so we could eat a free sandwich. Because we had told him that we originally came from austria and don't visit subway very often this nice fellow leaved it to us to fill in the coupon. A very nice gesture. We still have this coupon. xD The day after the concert we travelled to Frankfurt so we could visit the birth house of goethe. Frankfurt was quite loud and unfriendly. Yeah..I think that's the quintessence of our little journey. Paul played many songs and you can see the following ones (as I remember): 50 ways, That was your mother, peace like a river, sound of silence, the only living boy in new york, diamonds on the soles of her shoes, the afterlife, mystery train, the obvious child. Please let me know if I've forgot a song!

The tuba comes in near the end of the guitar solo (starting at 0:52) and plays throughout the "I need a fix" bit, ending at 1:10. Left channel extraction via a pseudo-5.1 DTS mix. First reported by Lewisohn, the overdub was buried in final mono and stereo mixes for commercial release.
