If you have the room, equipment, time, and money, 15" gauge is nice.
I've driven 7-1/2" gauge also and prefer 3-3/4 gauge because the perception of speed is greater even though both scales may travel the same speed.
For serious passenger hauling 7-1/2" and up is indeed preferable...
