The United States is the cradle and engine room of gospel music.The music was shaped by pioneers such as Thomas Dorsey, Mahalia Jackson, Andrae Crouch and Gospel RnB superstar of today, Kirk Franklin.
Black people in Britain have also developed their own distinct styles of the genre over the last 60 years since they arrived in their small numbers on the iconic ship SS Empire Windrush on 22nd June 1948.
Many of the UK artists and groups were filmed over the years and this site will feature the diverse numbers, and also include classic performances of American artists in the UK.
British Pioneers include Basil Meade,Kainos and todays Raymond and Co.
Individuals that have crossed over into mainstream secular music will also be featured.
