About this user
I am a singer, songwriter and traditional Irish musician. I play tenor banjo, mandolin, and guitar. I've been playing music since I was four and started entering the Fleadhs on Banjo when I was thirteen. Traditional Irish Music goes back many generations in my father's family. I won county and Leinster titles from the age of thirteen to nineteen and became All-Ireland Champion in 1981. I was privileged to be invited on the UK and USA tours with CCE in 1983.
I then started playing in Folk Bands and formed The Jarveys and Ború. Ború worked extensively from 1986-1994 touring extensively as a folk band both at home and abroad. I am also involved with a band called Cruinniú which is an eclectic mix of trad and songs from various sources with a diverse combination of instruments and influences.
Playing guitar, singing and writing songs has always been a big love of mine and I am focussing on that and my instrumental playing at the moment. My first solo album 'Time Past' is set for release in early 2011 and I am currently working on an album of Banjo playing which I hope to record and release in 2011.
