Looks like it's just a matter of time before this channel gets taken down, & all my videos with it. Never mind how much enjoyment people have had from watching some of those videos.
About Me:

So fucking tired of unjust copyright laws ruining everyone's ability to experience and explore the arts. People NEED the arts to be happy. But it seems that if we don't have the money to buy access to all the arts we enjoy, we don't get to be happy without becoming criminals.

Favourite quotations:

Rudyard Kipling: His whole poem, "If."

Harvey Fierstein: "Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself."

Langston Hughes: "Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die / Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly."

Reel Big Fish: "No matter what, no matter who, no matter what I do, somebody hates me! (Somebody hates me!) Somebody hates me, somebody hates me ..."

Lyn Hejinian, on writing: "I perseverate on rain. I perseverate on pleasure."

Bhutan: Taking the Middle Path to Happiness (PBS): "If you make your happiness your mind, no one can rob it from you. If you make your happiness your car, it might roll off the hill ..."

Anonymous: "Whether you achieve what you want comes down to your answer to one question: How bad do you want it?"

Salman Rushdie, on post-7/7 cultural tensions in the UK: "'Purity' is a slogan that leads to segregations and explosions. Let us have no more of it. A little more impurity, please; a little less cleanliness; a little more dirt. We'll all sleep easier in our beds."

Hugh MacLeod, author of "How to be Creative" and IGNORE EVERYONE: "Sing in your own voice. Picasso was a terrible colorist. ... Henry Miller was a wildly uneven writer. Bob Dylan can't sing or play guitar."

Donald Hall, quoted by Ken Macrorie on honesty in writing: "There must be no gap between expression and meaning, between real and declared aims ... It means not saying 'I didn't mean to hurt your feelings,' when there really existed a desire to hurt. It means not saying 'luncheon' or 'home' for the purpose of appearing upper-class or well-educated. It means not using the passive mood to contribute to no one in particular opinions that one is unwilling to call one's own."

Robert Frost: "The woods are lovely, dark, and deep / But I have promises to keep / And miles to go before I sleep / And miles to go before I sleep."

China Miéville on his occupation as a sci-fi/fantasy fiction writer: "I'm in this fucking business for the monsters." My fucking hero.

Oh, and I got to see that "alternate version" of that Bruno Mars video on a big screen at Nimoy's final appearance before I met him. God we were rolling. My life rocks.

Ahhh, having friends over who like my cooking and bring cake to celebrate another year of my life, and entertaining each other with our mutual stupidity. One of the best ways around to spend an evening.

Revisiting some of my old favorite AMVs made me feel like makin' a new playlist. I put in all the very best AMVs I could think of that were available - and not just my personal favorites. I have many favorites that didn't go into the list, because I wanted it to be a collection of AMVs whose creators really went all out with what they had to work with at the time, AND with their creativity. Most AMVs (and fan videos in general) these days are really shit. But some people used to churn out consistently good stuff, and those people made the *exceptionally* good videos I picked. They go beyond funny editing - they achieve brilliance. Duane, William, Elizabeth, Hsien, Stupid Guy, and all the others ... <3
