人面蜘蛛是台灣大型的蜘蛛,這是指雌蛛.公蛛體型很小,約雌蛛十­分之一左右.雌雄體型相差這麼大,一直是演化上的謎題.動物中有­些雌性會在交配中把配偶給吃了,比較惡名昭彰的大概要屬螳螂和蜘­蛛了.聽說雌螳螂會把交配中配偶的頭咬斷吃了.蜘蛛也會有同樣的­生態行為.

雄蛛為了避免被吃掉,都趁著雌蛛進食手忙腳亂...
