About this user

The primary goal of the BSBCC is to promote sun bear conservation in Borneo. The BSBCC aims to achieve this by creating the capacity to confiscate, rehabilitate and release captive bears back into the wild; providing a more natural short and long-term living environment for existing captive bears; educating the public and raising awareness regarding these little known bears and their plight; and achieving increased protection for sun bears through ongoing research, increased knowledge and awareness, and protection of habitat. The BSBCC is a joint project with LEAP, Sabah Wildlife Department and Sabah Forestry Department, and located directly adjacent to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre on land donated to the BSBCC by the government.
