I am a new fan of Rob Thomas and MB20. I had never heard of Rob or Matchbox until late Nov. 09. I had been sick and my husband gave me a laptop to help pass the time. I came across Santana and Rob singing "Smooth" on YouTube. I had not listened to secular music in 20 years so believe it or not I had never heard the song. I loved Santana from back in the day and I was curious about the cute white boy singing with him. So my kids googled him for me. Turns out it was Rob. I started reading about him and his wife and God in His faithfulness used what I read to save my life. I mean that literally. I was feeling mad at God and I didn't want to talk to him or pray anymore. But God used Rob's songs to speak to me, in my rebellion, about what was wrong with my health. He is faithful even when I 'm not. I read about the songs Rob had written for Mari because of her battle with an autoimmune disease, and I had many of the same symptoms. My doctors kept saying there wasn't anything wrong with me. When I read it took Rob and Mari a long time to find out what was wrong with her I insisted they keep looking. After going to several specialists it was determined I was in the later stages of Thyroid cancer. I wish they had found it earlier, but I am so thankful they did find it. I have four sons, the youngest is 13. Matchbox 20's song 3 a.m. was another song I feel God used to prod me to keep looking. I knew Rob was about 13 when his mom had cancer and I kept thinking about that and my son of the same age. If I ever get the chance to meet Rob or Mari I will give them a big hug and thank them for sharing their story. Because of their openness I have a good chance to see my youngest son graduate. I had a thyroidictomy in June, because the tumor was very large I have vocal cord damage and I have not been able to speak since. I don't know if I ever will again. ( I can whisper but it's hard to hear me). I had really hoped to go to my first Rob concert this summer but I need to do the follow up RIA therapy and will not be able to see him. I will look forward to all the videos on YouTube that others share. So if you see a good video let me know. I have all my favorites separated into playlists . Rob's fan videos, Paul Doucette videos, Kyle Cook videos etc. Check them out if you get the chance. Hopefully in the future I will have my own videos to upload . I would love to tell Rob and Mari what their story and music has meant to me. I don't know how to contact them and there are so many people who try I don't want to bother them. Maybe I will see them at one of his concerts someday and thank him in my own voice. I admit I have a little crush on Rob, but I love Mari too. His music soothes and comforts me so my husband is a good sport about all this "Rob stuff", as he calls it. My boys just roll their eyes at me, but I catch them humming his music all the time. People, I'm writing all of this for one reason: if you feel there is something wrong and your doctors are not listening find another doctor, don't wait as long as I did. I love the Lord and I am grateful for the way he used Rob, Mari, and MB20 in my life. Please don't forget to let me know if there is a new or old video I should watch. Hey! Sorry for the delay in my response...I work for a radio station in springfield, MO. We were honored with the chance to bring Rob in for a private acoustic lunch for our listeners, which as the videos had shown resulted in a HUGE success. The video I was able to capture I'm very thankful for because it provided opportunity for those who weren't there to witness, but out of respect for Rob and his record label, I opted not to film in full. I greatly appreciate the comment, and am very glad you enjoyed the clips!
