Before I start this off, Id like to request that you send this video of to everyone you know of who opposes same sex marriage. Id like as many responses from the other side as possible. The more responses, the better, especially in video format.

Now, most who oppose gay marriage do it for religious reasons. Thats no secret. Whether they cite that as their primary reason or not is up to them, but its almost always one of the main reasons. With that in mind, Id like to ask you, the opponent of gay marriage, a few questions.

There is a popular argument about the sanctity of marriage. Sometimes it takes the form of the definition of marriage, sometimes its stated that gay marriage would lower the value of marriage. Its all the same argument. However, secular authorities, such as judges are allowed to marry people. People can also get non-religious theme weddings where they are married by Elvis, Gandalf, Darth Vader or a Klingon. That in and of itself literally takes the sanctity out of marriage, as it no longer has any sanctity or holiness due to lack of religious involvement.
1: So why is it that those of you who complain about gay marriage taking out the sanctity of marriage didnt try to ban judicial marriages before gay marriage was proposed?
2: If it is your religion preventing you from accepting gay marriage, then, assuming that your church could refuse gay couples from being married, and they were only married by judges, then would you still oppose gay marriage?

Next, some religions do allow for homosexual marriages. In fact, even some Christian denominations allow for gay marriage, including the Canadian and American branches of the Anglican Church (Episcopalian Church in the U.S.A) and the United Church of Canada.

These religions also perform heterosexual marriages. In most of the world, this is the only type of marriage that is legal, and its sanctioned by the same deity that wants to marry the homosexuals.

Are you not opposing their religious freedoms by opposing gay marriage?

I should probably point out that polygamy, which is comparable to gay marriage here, is a situation that causes inequality in the marriage based on the very structure of the arrangement. At least one wife will be above all the other wives in the husbands eyes, thus causing emotional damage to the rest. Gay marriage, however, harms no one.

Lastly, you dont live in a theocracy. With that in mind, why are you trying to impose religious laws on those who disagree with them? (less info)
