A collection of videoclips about the history and roots of vjing. This extensive overview shows some influences from silent film, early visual music, video-art, electronic music, expanded cinema, abstract cinema, tv commercials, cyber culture, digital culture etc.
I started this channel based on the essay 'The Roots of VJing' which I've been writing back in 2003 for the D-Fuse book on VJing (Laurence King Publishing).
Now some years later you'll find a channel here which has been slightly shifted its attention from VJing towards a more general approach of audio-visual culture in an age of digital media (including and explicitly mixing both media-art and popular culture).
Next to that there is also a small playlist left with some collected found footage that i used in previous vj-set. I hope you see this as an interesting and enjoyable mix. Feel free to send any remarks, tips or additional material that you find relevant.
