About Big Brothers Big Sisters SW CO

Big Brothers Big Sisters of La Plata County has been established since 1984 and began serving the area in 1985 when the first match was made. The Archuleta County office opened in 2000. The name was changed to Big Brothers Big Sister of Southwest Colorado in 2008.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is the oldest, largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States.
We have been the leader in one-to-one youth service for more than a century, developing positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people.
Big Brothers Big Sisters mentors children, ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado was founded in 1984 by a group of local community leaders who saw a need for positive, adult mentors in the lives of the many promising youth in the area.
We currently have both community-based and school-based mentoring in La Plata county and community-based mentoring in Archuleta county.
Being a Big Brother, Big Sister, or Studdy Buddy is as simple as being friend. Our intention is to foster QUALITY friendships among youth and adults. "Start Something" today and get involved with us and make a BIG difference!!!
