Im BBT609, and a major railfan of the FEC

On Saturday, February 20, 2010, in Melbourne FL, 3 teens who decided to walk on a railroad bridge were struck and killed by a train. Many people have brought up the idea that every school should teach about railroad safety so that this tragic incident doesn't have to be repeated. One of OPERATION LIFESAVER's primary goals is education, and not surprisingly this information is already available.

Directly from the main page at http://www.oli.org/ there is an "Education Resources" link that has lesson plans, classroom ideas, art downloads, and MANY more items available for immediate download by ANYONE to use. ANY interested teacher can use these materials immediately.

I have a challenge for EVERYONE that reads this -- Please FORWARD this message to someone that you know in a school, whether it's here in Florida or ANYWHERE, and ask them to help educate our youth about railway safety. Operation Lifesaver makes it easy, and the life they save may very well be one of their own students.
I'll go a step further -- I'm going to post this to my Facebook Status, and I'm going to hope to spread this word QUICKLY around the country. Help me, won't you? Let's try and put an end to these senseless tragedies once and for all.
