Mine is actually slightly more distorted than Eddie's. Check out solo'd EVH tracks for proof. If only I had his technique and plexi I might have done this with a little less distortion. Eddie's plexi had an incredible combination of clarity and saturation. In addition, Ted Templeman...

yes the tele was a spare they used to use, very early in career. They hated the sound of it though. They called it the ashtray - partly due to the way it was routed under the scratchplate. I remember this from an old guitar player interview.
