Also on a note ARW who were responsible for rescue in Liberia work closely with other high profile international SOF groups and have from both competition and actual operation attained a reputation for being one of the most effective. So far no apology for a series of lies which were preceded by an attempt to post insults of the highest order on a dedication video. If you were anti military I could understand but you seem to have some pride in the BA and on that basis you should be ashamed. The soldiers in these armies work together on a regular basis both on exercises and in real operations and aside from the friendly rivalry you get in such situations (and the odd muppet on each side) they respect each other as professional soldiers. Perhaps you should try the same attitude.

As for UK scale our troops are on that same level of professional ability as again our history of operational success shows quite clearly. Some small elements as with any army I'm sure are of a lower standard than they ought to be but these less desirable soldiers like in other armies are weeded out over time. The border posts are being closed and what part time are you talking about? if you are referring to the RDF or sand bags as the PDF commonly call them they are coming up but still have a way to go to match up to what is now expected of them. As for so called "tea men" well what small number were ever allowed to exist and develop are a dying breed and occupy the posts of least value and sensitivity. Do you really think the yanks would have found it acceptable for the Irish security services (military and policing as a whole and intelligence) to handle all security when President Bush came to visit if they were as incompetent as you've been trying to make out!

Our operation in Kosovo has been up to the high standard anyone expects of a modern and trained army from day one and 2004 only served to highlight this. General Anders would not have said anything had our efforts been a total f*** up. There was not a war on that incident more a deterioration of the situation which left unchecked or badly handled may have led to further hostilities. The Irish defence forces are not a superpower military formation (full size powerful air force, large battle fleet, tank brigades etc) but as a nation of the population and size of Ireland it is of approximate correct size and is equipped for the most part with modern and up to date weapons and vehicles (some small exceptions remain). The training within the army itself is of the highest order both for enlisted men and officers and the fact that the British army is always happy to work with us indicates their opinion clearly.

Jez dont get me wrong man, id like to see the Irish army as a firm figure on the military stage and you seem to know what your talking about. You did say however that papers will say anything, in responce to that yes papers will and so will High ranking officers to the press which might include rescuing a cat outa a tree and saying there was a full scale battle n so on....... Ah well i do believe that a small section on the armed forces here would compare to U.K. scale troops but there is a clear majority that a just wasters - i hope than wen they close all these old border posts and part time posts it may weed out the bicycle Tea men and get the ball rolling.

At 1:43 The comments by Brigadier General Anders Branstrom in 2004 of I believe the Swedish army serve to back me up. Also the rescue of 35 unharmed civilians in Liberia and capture of 10 of the hostage takers including the IC and 2IC is another example of our ability to do our job effectively and swiftly. what have you against the Irish army that you will say anything and talk such crap, is something making you bitter or are you just another moronic troll. My advice to you is next time you pick a pointless argument with someone to try and use facts instead of just calling your lies and half truths facts it works better that way.

As for this friend I would wonder if he or she even exists considering your current record of misrepresentation of what half truths you have told so far. As for the comment apparently heard possibly a friendly joke (derived from said song or simply from the usual jibes you get when any 2 forces are together) or again considering your inclination to simply talk crap possibly non existent. You do seem to have a great love for saying its "FACT". This sounds all very grand and impressive but without any shred of proof its totally meaningless. Again our record of achievements to date over seas stands well to prove my point which is that we are indeed an effective force and that you are nothing more than an uninformed over opinionated loudmouth.

Almost Every army in the modern world when they are not on an active operation of some kind (be that real or exercise or ATCP or local barrack duty outside your average) has a certain time at which the majority will go back to their place of residence after they have been in for a certain time. There in modern military is no longer a point seen in keeping large numbers of troops (beyond those in training or required for other duty including barrack guard duties etc) in barracks and this is true in the British army as well. As for that tea remark lifting half a line almost verbatim from a very old Ronnie Drew Dubliners song about the navy (when they were a national joke by all accounts) only serves to show your desperation to look as though you know something.
