0:53. That is exactly what I thought when I first saw the musical trailer and then the dialogue-laden TV spots. I thought, "Why can't the whole movie be silent? It looks nice but the dialogue sounds silly." I'd never even seen a silent film then but I was interested in a silent dinosaur movie...

Yes, the comparison worked because he knows how to compare two uncomparable films. The prequels don't feel much like Star Wars to me because the original trilogy is a fairy tale, a mythological, morality play of good vs. evil following the hero's journey set in space. The prequels...

I love it. The cave vision portion and the ending where Luke looks at his hand and remembers the past were stand-outs.

I'm glad you mentioned Arjuna--it's pretty obscure as anime go, and is a bit heavy-handed at times, but it still deserves a little more attention.

4:04 to 4:48 was so beautifully synched to the music. Wonderful. And the music led me to the Lady in the Water soundtrack. I've not seen the film, so I can't comment on it, but the music is extraordinary--deserved an Oscar nomination.

Anyway, you did an excellent job montaging the fight scene...

Maybe. He's always saying, "They're my movies," but of all the 28 people who won 31 Oscars for their work on the Original Trilogy films, Lucas was not one of them. And the prequels won no Oscars at all.

Doesn't excuse sloppy pronunciation, though. Maybe he's just sick of Star Wa...

I was listening to a new set of classical music CDs, and I got to this song, which I'd never heard of before. It sounded familiar and I didn't know why. I finally figured out that I heard it on the Merry Go Round on RollerCoaster Tycoon.

That's how Yoko Kanno works. She doesn't set out to compose jazz, or orchestral, or Irish jigs, or rock, or pop--she just composes music, and her work is so strong because of it.

Thank you! I've been getting the discs from the library and disc 5 is too scratched to play properly. People just don't take care of books/movies they don't own, it seems. So, now I can see the next four episodes before picking up the last disc.

I do about 95% of anime subtitled, but I'm faithful to a few English dubs: Mushi-shi was pleasant and calm, and Romeo x Juliet was much better in English (being based on Shakespeare). Baccano! is my favorite English dub, being set in America with accents and slang that don't show up...

You're not joking about the case? That is the worst way to package DVDs I've ever seen. Don't they get scratched? There's no excuse, as you show with the Cowboy Bebop case.

I don't even like the cases where just one disc is on top of the other, and swapped out my Toward the Terra layered case...

I noticed a slight audio lag too, but at least it's not as noticable in animation as in live-action.

I was watching the uncensored version of this on DVD when Grandma walked in the room. She thought it was hilarious when Colin grabbed Wayne and she couldn't stop laughing.
