I am Austin Machado Crosthwaite and I want to welcome and thank you for visiting my web page.(www.machadored.com) As you will notice, this is a page that showcases my Art/Craft work. I currently live in Toronto, ON, Canada. Originally I am from Rosarito Beach, Lower California, United Mexican States. (Baja, México.) Austin Crosthwaite Collection:
The Austin Crosthwaite Collection is a series of exclusive hand crafted piggy banks. Each piece is unique and there is no other like it in existence. Each piggy bank has a delicate hand painted piece of art on the side which is beautiful and inspiring to look at. Many of the pieces of art have inspiration from many countries across the world. This is also indicated by the use of the currency decorations from many of the popular countries.
How it was created:
The art is hand made from recycled paper and organic paste which is then sculpted into the shape of a pig. Each pig has distinguished features which are added such a bulbous eyes, varying nose shapes, eyebrows, ears and even wings. The pigs are allowed to dry for several days before being primed for painting. The art is delicately hand painted on the side with water-proof acrylic paints. Each piggy is uniquely named with its own tag. The name is also painted on the piggy in braille for the blind. Once the painting is completely dry, the pigs are adorned with extra decorations unique to their character. Decorations can include coins, buttons, hats, wings or even hair.
