As for me, I'm undoubtedly a liberal, which means that I'm in almost total agreement with the Eisenhower-era Republican party platform. I'm not a communist in the orthodox sense of the word.

I'm more of a liberal progressive. It should be noted that the progressive era (which only lasted from 1890 through to about 1920) was pursued with the explicit intention of PREVENTING true totalitarian communism (not "you disagree with me therefore I shall call you a 'communist' type of communism") from taking hold in the United States.

After the Bretton Woods system of regulation on international finance expired in the early 1970s, our country lost the ability to pursue truly progressive policies.

In Response to AthenasConquest, Excuse me? You're calling me a "communist?" Many people define that word in many different fashions. I gather that you are a mainstream American conservative and that by the word "communist" you actually mean to describe somebody with whom you personally disagree on all things political.

I've also noticed that you've embraced the libertarian talking point that "taxation is theft" & you've taken a pretty hardline stance. This libertarian axiom implies that you are an anarcho-Capitalist libertarian. Is this corract? Are you, in fact, an anrchist? I ask this because many mainstream American conservatives seem to be divorced from the academic foundations from which their political stances arise.
