@AlyssaGoesToItaly My favourite version is Karrin Allyson's on From Paris To Rio. Perhaps someone can upload it - couldn't find it here. Brigitte doesn't do too badly, though.

@2ffart Genius description of Monk's genius on piano! Striding, lyrical romanticism with a painful blister or cramp of a love possibly already lost.

@drjazz86 As you say or imply a jazz standard is, among other things, a platform for experimentation. That's what Winehouse does here, IMO rather well. It's not even that far out of the box: doing RM as funk (as she does) or as a waltz is pretty standard fare in jazz workshops and courses.

@guglhupf12 I doubt it's fidgeting or nerves. With those heels, Amy couldn't tap her foot to help her keep time - really vital with this [beautiful] arrangement. So she moves her body in time, making herself look a little fidgety but delivering fabulous sounds.

Elisabeth Schwarzkopf sings "An die Musik" by Schubert
Soprano Elisabeth Schwarzkopf sings Schubert's lied "An die Musik" with Gerald Moore at the piano. From a 1961 BBC broadcast.

Lovely singing and decent accompaniment, but Gerald Moore's spoken intro would be far better transcribed as surtitles or a text rostrum shot: his pronunciation of the German title is appalling - all the more so since much of his life and work was spent partnered to German speakers.

@nybryel You're right, her intro has great spacey (electronics circa 1969) sounds. What you can also do is stick in the published verse, a very short one, either before or after Diana's intro. Seems to work for for me.
