Arthur Arnold is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific, Canada. He has been recently described as 'one of the rare conductors who not only possesses a flawless technique, but also inspires the orchestra, giving the individual musicians creative freedom'.
After a successful debut with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and further intensified collaborations with this orchestra, Arnold has become internationally recognized as a specialist in the Russian repertoire. Through his work with many other great orchestras, Arnold has established a reputation for sincere musical interpretations, dynamic performances and the ability to communicate with audiences. In his native Holland, Arnold has conducted orchestras including the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra, North Netherlands Orchestra, Holland Symfonia and Rotterdam Philharmonic. His conducting career has taken him to many other European orchestras and to other continents.
He has conducted the University of Taipei Symphony Orchestra and was principle guest conductor of the Seoul National Symphony Orchestra. In North America he has conducted the Victoria Symphony, the Symphony Orchestra of the Pacific and the orchestra of the Glenn Gould School of Music in Toronto. As regular Guest Conductor at the Woodstock Mozart Festival in Illinois, he captures audiences with exciting concerts and engaging pre-concerts talks.
Arthur Arnold received his musical training in the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom. He studied with Myung-whun Chung and Gianluigi Gelmetti at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena (Italy), with Diego Masson at the Dartington International Summer School (UK) and with the distinguished Finnish conductor and pedagogue Jorma Panula. For many years Arnold served as the assistant conductor to the legendary Hans Vonk.
