My favorite movie is "Key Largo" because of the acting. The scene where Lauren Bacall and Claire Trevor communicate with only small changes of facial expression is the best. Excellent acting from all the principles and great other production work.

I think Miss Jones modestly fails to add good singing for one of the reasons for the success of the old musicals. Not everyone nowadays can sing the older songs well, and when that happens, Wow!.

Thanks for posting Cole Porter singing one of his own songs. While no one can deny the genius in the music, Porter's greatest gift was clever lyrics.

They looked as though they were having so much fun with that piece--fiendishly difficult as it must be.

Fascinating. And besides that wonderful personality and singing, the band enhances but doesn't overpower, neither Miss Cotton nor the other soloists.

Thank you for posting this. I am so grateful that these performances from legendary singers(, and dancers, and actors) were recorded, even if imperfectly, so we could see how great they were and enjoy their work.

The Nicholas Brothers: from all that I've read, as nice as they were talented. (And Dorothy Dandridge has nothing to be ashamed of either.)

Singing is respectable, but the rest of the production is horrible.

It's too bad they made this so short...it's delightful, and so is she.

What a beautifully done version! The voices blend and complement each other perfectly. It might almost be two versions of the same (good) singer.

The best part was watching how much fun they were having. (They were all tops in their fields, so no competition in that sense.)

Pavarotti was all right when he was young. Later he proved that his naturally good voice was not backed by enough training and planning and we had to put up with his vocal villanies.

I wish modern sopranos (as a class) could sing this well. The high notes are so clear and pretty.

Good beginning. You need to work on your diction and slow down a bit. But you've got the sense of the character and his wonder at Mrs. Molloy in particular and women in general. The talking in spurts works very well for the character. Some coaching and training and you could have a lot of fun...

I'll bet they got applause not just because the script called for it but because they deserved it--every take.

Interesting video production. However, I doubt that Ethel Merman would have every worn anything that revealing in public.
