Well, the Stephen King version is in the ballpark of six hours long. I'm just saying that Stanley Kubrick's version is a really good movie unless you've read the book. I read the book and then watched the movie and was thoroughly dissapointed.

I've read the book and I have seen both versions of the movie. The only one that does the book justice is the one that Stephen King wrote the screenplay for himself. The Stanley Kubrick version (with Jack Nicholson) is a good movie in it's own right, but it differs on so many key points. And it flat out misses what Stephen King was going for in his book, which is why he wrote his own screenplay.
