I agree that Obama won't get re-elected, but I really doubt the next one in line will resurrect the Constellation program. The Augustine commission said in their report that Constellation is unsustainable and recommended its' termination. All Obama did was agree with them and the fact that they are aerospace engineers might have had something to do with it. My guess is NASA will just switch to developing the Jupiter Direct rockets or something similar.

@TonyN737: I also suspect Obama will be a single-term president. He hasn't followed up on a single promise of his, and I have confidence that his successor will restart Constellation. However, by then the United States will be far behind countries who actually care about space technology, like India and China. Which would mean that Obama broke another one of his promises. That's why I'm still anxious.

Don't worry, Obama's a one term president, his replacement will keep the Constellation Program flying!

If Obama reneges on his plan to cancel Constellation due to Congressional or public pressure, would you go back to making videos regularly? I watched these videos and I felt really excited about the upcoming program. With the Ares 1-X launch I figured that it was definitely on a roll now, but then Obama decided that true exploration isn't that important and people should just stay in LEO for another 40 years of so. And I wish good luck to you, if NASA stops making and launching their own vehicles, I think it'll cease to exist.

I loved and was all excited about the Ares and the Constellation program. It strongly saddens me to see the progress into the new vehicles, the researc, man hours, and billions that has gone to waste . This is a real bonehead move by the current administration

Wow excellent, too bad most explorations will soon be taking off from the moon in the near future. When Nasa does setup base on the moon, build an eden project there, a massive one - grow all types of plants there. Then Sir Richard Branston can take me there to see it. =)
