I have found it easier myself to close me eyes while playing when learning the vocals for songs. It helps disconnect your strumming pattern with the lyrical side of it, plus it helps in learning chord position and fret spacing. I'll often find myself closing my eyes when playing now.

I think Alice recorded this with the guitar tuned down half a step, if I am recalling correctly. I always play it open myself as I hate tuning down half a step for one song. :-)
