I have been a life long fan of the late actor, River Phoenix. But before I go any further, there is something that I need to mention first...

When Riv was still alive he felt uncomfortable with the word "fan", and instead replaced it with "friend". As for myself, I always enjoy and welcome meeting new fans of his. As Riv had replaced "fan", I have done the same as well... I would much rather say, River friends.

The first time I actually knew about Riv was when I was 17 years old and Riv had just recently turned 16. I had watched the movie Stand By Me for the very first time in the theatre. One look into his eyes and I felt there was something more to him that I just couldn't explaine. That for some reason, I had to know who River Phoenix was. And not even realizing what was ahead of me and the incredible journey I was about to go on.

I love and respect Riv as an actor. I felt that he was so gifted and talented of his generation. It is so unfortunate that we can no longer watch him on the silver screen.

It wasn't just his acting that had caught my attention. As I was learning more and more about Riv, I had realized that he had much more to offer than just being an actor. Riv was not your typical "Hollywood star".

Riv had a "voice" and wanted to be heard. He had compassion and such great concern for all animals and the environment. He also had a loving heart and a kind soul, to those he knew or had come into his life. Riv was someone who thought of others before himself. (TO BE CONTINUED.......)
