@lindybeige some designs are more efficient than others. as far as i know, the same weight arrow will be faster from a recurve than from a longbow. the reason the longbow was so popular might be that it was easier and faster to manufacture (althoug i don't know that at all).

@wendighoul thanks for the answer, but kukris ar generally much bigger and heavier, and they're curved the other way. i agree that kukris are very versatile and a good choice if you want a big knife, but this is definitely not one.
