1. the anecdote/sequence of actions; a story in its purest form; with a bit of bait - raise Qs from the beginning; if you raise one, it's implied you're going to answer, along the way...

The 1 thing about focusing a story - Writing for Story - tell it in 3 words, who did what - "did" being an Active verb - stories almost always best told narrow & deep, not wide&thin, a lot about a little. e.g. America [verb] Iraq (invade?occupy? rescue?) it'll focus yr story

1. identify yourself as a cit-j (and if a NACJ member, can show yr nacj badge...)- gives authenticity

2. ask name, spelling, why they're at the event (puts info into context)

3. if they refuse, go find someone else
