Holy shit! Yes he's awesome! I'm a long-time RTF fan but this is some of the toughest,and coolest, grooves I've ever heard him do.

Yep, always felt it gains a huge amount by being played fast and with hard stinging punches. The studio recording sounds stuffy productionwise, this is how it *should* come out.

(2/2)Whatever the issues and flaws of "Sparkle" the album has some of Jim's strongest singing, some really good songs and great, punchy performances from all the others. It's nowhere near as bland as "Real Life" or the Paris live double album.

So many British 80s band never even attempted to make...

@CroArtVandelay Yep, it's got very much an "English pop" flavour. Might have been an Elvis Costello track, though he'd have given it to some other singer, a woman. Expert production and great vocals, this is a classic album, the best ever on that label.

@Gunnarsas Yeah, super cliché'd scene. I've been to a few fetish clubs too and they were nowhere near this level of cool scenery or well-paid, well-dressed clientele.

Wonderful!

One of the most disturbing stretches of rape, fear and violence I've ever seen. The moment when he pummels her tummy with the rifle butt and she falls over, hands bound and helpless, is grisly - and very credible. Great movie but hard to watch.

Wonderful track and album, the record is one of my Jarrett favourites. I love every second of this sultry half-r'n'b half-waltz, but especially Garbarek's cadenza from 4:22 onwards - the whole band building that sailing, supple groove behind him and putting in gentle, driving accents. This was shown a good deal on MTV in Europe, though probably not in the States (still a good deal of racial separation on the U.S. channel at the time). I've been looking for it, a very cool laid-back funk track and ingenious, quirky video. Gotta love the synced athletics, skiing and surfing clip...

Très bon! That whole ballet is fantastic (look up the full video of the finale, "Victoire des signes" here on Youtube, an absolute marvel!) and I love the way she uses the wide spaces her characters move in.
