In this age of the rule of brute force, it is almost impossible for anyone to believe that any one else could possibly reject the law of the final supremacy of brute force.

The vanity of men, a constant insult to women, is also the ground for the implicit feminine claim of superior sensitivity and morality. As humans have a prior right to existence over dogs by virtue of being more highly evolved and having a superior consciousness, so women have a prior right to existence over men. The subjugation of any male is, therefore, a righteous and good act, an act highly beneficial to women as well as an act of mercy.

Only those who know the supremacy of the intellectual life can understand the grief of one who falls from that serene activity into the absorbing soul-wasting struggle with worldly annoyances.
