Sejal Surendra Sood made her journey from the US via India and came to Thailand 2 years ago. She is fascinated with paintings and dancing. Her works were displayed at the Think Design Art Festival recently held at Royal Phuket Marina. Voice **** CG: Sejal Surendra Sood - Artist The event featured over 2,000 work of art. Creations included paintings, sculptures, film, performance art, music and spoken word. It was a vibrant art scene. Some 200 artists attended the event. The works of arts belonged to famous artists from Thailand, Europe, America and Asia. The organizer saw Phuket a perfect venue for art creation exhibition for the world's eyes. Voice **** CG : Micheal Earle, Organiser, Think Design Art Festival Paintings were worth from thousands to hundreds of thousands. Art festivals can compliment tourism, not only for their relaxation while vacationing, but they can also be souvenirs to take home. So arts can be another selling point for tourism. According to the organizer, a portion of the proceeds benefitted two Phuket-based charities, namely the Phuket Has Been Good To Us Foundation for teaching English to Thai students in government schools and the Soi Dog Foundation for looking after stray dogs and cats in Thailand.

Talking about tourism, during this New Year holiday period just finished Phuket gained a new world class cultural theme park to satisfy the tourism industry. Siam Niramit defines itself as : Thailand's Must See Show. It was officially opened last week and we went along to see the spectacular show.
Located on 57 rai plot of land on the By Pass Road or Chalerm Phrakiat, with a cost of over 2,000 million baht is Phuket's newest attraction Siam Niramit cultural theme park. The CEO of the Cultural Theme Park Pannin Kitiparaporn firmly believes in the resort island's potential for vast investment due to its world renowned resources, and modern facilities with several direct flights from overseas. The new facility comprises -Thai Village of Four Regions, Set on a small pond alongside the theatre, the Thai Village of the Four Regions affords a fascinating glimpse of the traditional lifestyles, arts and crafts of rural Thailand. There are displays of Kites and Khon masks, and demonstrations of cooking traditional Thai desserts. Small open-air performances of traditional Thai music and dance in the elegant surroundings of the courtyard are showcased as we wait to get in the theatre for the main show. A 1200 seat restaurant with great views also serves international cuisine. -But most of my interest is in the Theatre which Khun ------- explained that it took them half a year to have stage built with state -- of -- the art technology as she proudly explained about the main acts.

Interview // Danish Consul to Phuket The Siam Niramit Cultural Theme Park in Phuket is run by the same management as in Bangkok with shows of Thai arts and culture. The firm has won many awards including the Prime Minister's Creative Award for Arts in 2011. The 1,740 seat theatre show opens everyday except Tuesday at 8.30 pm. It has several spectacular surprises during the show well worth seeing to believe.
