@KayBeeEee1983 The alarms they use in the UK (not sure if it's the same for the US) are based on motion sensors, so if a firefighter has been stationary for too long, it starts the alarm, although it is also possible to start the alarm manually.

Just because it seems impossible for him to have survived doesn't necessarily mean he's lying. 18 people who were at or above the impact zone in Tower 2 survived. Seemingly impossible things do happen sometimes.

@bostongirl015 It's the Sorcerer's Stone in America because the legend of the philosopher's stone isn't as well known there as it is in Europe, so JK thought that American's wouldn't get the reference.
