The first and perhaps main thing is it depends on the alternator. Mine is a 'one-wire' alternator. The 'one-wire' post goes to the + battery terminal, and the alternator chassis goes to the - battery terminal.

Just a guy who likes to tinker around. Very interested in green power, from wind, micro-hydro, solar, using various mechanics such as Archimedes screws, Sterling and Rankine Cycle engines, etc, as well as high-efficiency wood fuel systems using wood from sustainable harvesting practices.I made the very ungreen generator just for fun, and for emergency use only.
Right on good stuff!! Its fun making it and watching it work too eh!!
