2014 Mission Support Grant Applicants Play

Through the Mission Support Grant program Alliance Healthcare Foundation aims to catalyze real, sustainable change in San Diego & Imperial County by funding organizations that are advancing health and wellness for those in need. We look to the community for the solutions to overcoming the barriers that keep us from doing so. Organizations that are working to change the status quo and improve operations in terms of reduced costs, improved quality and/or greater capacity for the clients they serve are most likely to be acknowledged with funding. Alliance Healthcare Foundation will invest in those organizations that have demonstrated their ability or are exploring new & innovative ideas to serve the most vulnerable in our community including those under 250% of poverty, uninsured and underinsured, homeless and children.

We encourage you to view all of these years applicants to learn more about how organizations in our area are advancing health and wellness.

In this workshop, we explored Covered California enrollment with an overview of multiple health plans and eligibility, discussed the community clinic perspective, and considered its potential impact on the underserved in Imperial County. This workshop was free and included a healthy lunch for all attendees.

AHF Social Media Workshop with Kevin Popović Play

On September 24, Alliance Healthcare Foundation invited Kevin Popović, the CEO of Ideahaus, to host a social media workshop for our grantees at the World Resources SimCenter.

With an emphasis on work, Kevin lead our grantees—all with varying comfort levels with social media—through the process of establishing an effective social media presence, emphasizing the nuances and opportunities unique to community-based non-profit organizations. He started with an overview of the social media landscape and drilled down into specific tactics that capitalized on the functionality of individual platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn.

We recorded the workshop so that attendees could review what we covered and share Kevin's insight with their peers and their teams. His PowerPoint presentation and the Social Media Toolkit that he mentioned is available for free as well.

Part 1 begins with opening remarks from Rob McCray, Board Chair for the Alliance Healthcare Foundation, followed by a welcome and introduction by Executive Director Nancy Sasaki.

Serving as keynote speaker and conference leader is Akshay Sateesh, a world renowned teamwork and communications skills expert and founder of Ziksana Consulting.
