Acclaimed throughout Europe, North and South America, Maestro Milen Nachev is well known for his strong musicality, his excellent conducting technique, his stylistic faithfulness, and for the richness of his extensive repertoire.
Milen Nachev is Artistic Director with International Symphonic Workshops, Ltd. He was also appointed Principal Guest Conductor with the Romanian National Radio Symphony Orchestra & Choir. Mr. Nachev was the Principal Conductor of the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra (BNR) in Sofia for eight years. With the BNR orchestra, Milen Nachev created many successful recordings, broadcasted by the BBC -- Radio 3 and Radio France all around the world. Through the help of Mr. Nachev's fundraising, the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra realized multiple concert tours in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Greece, and Belgium among others. He was Principal Conductor with Belgrade Radio & Television Symphony Orchestra as well. Maestro Nachev was also appointed as a Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Balkan Philharmonic Orchestra composed of the best musicians from eight Balkan Countries.
Maestro Nachev's recent engagement highlights include guest conducting invitations with the Saint Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra, Russia; Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Romanian National Radio Symphony, Bucharest; Marinskii (Kirov) Theater, Saint Petersburg, Russia; Bogotá National Symphony Orchestra, Columbia; Shanghai Opera House, China; Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Tallinn; Karlovy Vary Philharmonic, Czech Republic; Sofia Philharmonic, Bulgaria; Rousse State Opera Theatre, Bulgaria, and the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, Argentina among others.
Milen Nachev was born into an artistic family in Bulgaria. At the age of five, he began studying piano. Mr. Nachev was accepted into the Bulgarian State Musical Academy and he was selected for a full scholarship to attend the world famous Saint Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. There, Milen studied with Professor Ilya Mussin and received his Bachelor's Degree in Symphonic and Opera conducting. Milen Nachev participated in the Master Conducting courses with Genadii Rojdestvenski at Academia "Chigiana" in Sienna, Italy as well. He completed his graduate studies with an Internship with Orchestra of Paris and a Master's Degree of Marketing and Management of the Arts with a full scholarship for Burgundy University in Dijon, France.
In 1989, Maestro Nachev was appointed to the position of Principal Conductor, Artistic and General Director with the Rousse State Opera Theater, Bulgaria. Following that, he was Conductor of the Sofia National Opera and Ballet Theatre as well. During this period Mr. Nachev was Principal Conductor with Sofia Youth Orchestra and Professor of Conducting with the Bulgarian State Conservatory.
Mr. Nachev has been honored for Outstanding Musical Leadership with awards from the City of Vatican in Rome, Foundation Napoleon in Paris, and Bulgarian Ministry of the Culture. Also, he received a Charter of Gratitude and Recognition from the Bulgarian Parliament.
Milen is fluent in English, French, Russian, Italian and Bulgarian. His repertoire includes over 350 symphonic pieces, 9 ballets, and 42 operas.
Maestro Nachev is frequently invited as a guest-conductor in Spain, France, Russia, Germany, Italy, USA, Belgium, Portugal, Greece, Argentina, Bulgaria, Czech, Turkey, Colombia, Serbia, China and Romania among other countries. Now, Mr. Nachev lives in Los Angeles, California with regular engagements throughout Europe, America, and Asia. "The conductor was Milen Nachev and he is a star.
