"I find song writing very therapeutic. It helps me get over difficult situations," she explains, "If I'm full of emotion -- whether I'm happy, angry, or sad -- I write. It can be about love, fate or even my red lipstick. I write songs people can relate to: baring soul and the deepest, darkest secrets of your heart." Singing from an early age came easily to Alexia: her mother, Ethel Coley starred in the original production of the groundbreaking hit musical 'Hair' and to this day she remains a significant musical influence in her life - as well as her rock of support.
Alexia Coley won 'The Big Chill Festival Competition' that ran for six weeks in May earlier this year 2011. Up against 15 bands in the live finals, she surprised and delighted judges with her performance.
Alexia delivered such a stunning performance -- wowing the crowd on the Revellers stage (Big Chill Festival) that as soon as she came off the stage she asked to perform at the VIP back stage bar.
A seven-piece band comprising of bass, drums, keys, two guitars, trumpet and sax provide an accomplished backdrop to her powerful yet 'smoky' voice.
"When I've applied my red lipstick and a rose in my hair, I'm in performance mode." Says Alexia.
