Alexander Macedonian did speak Macedonian, which must have been quite different to Koine, as he once criticised his general when he spoke Greek saying: Why do you rather not use the language of our mother?
Etc, etc. Another question is just what exactly was ancient Macedonian language. But everything points out it was not Greek! ;) Greetings :)
Pozdrav

25% of English Vocabulary has Greek words,It's amazing!!!
derived from the Greek "Αλέξανδρος" (Aléxandros), meaning "defending men" or "protector of men", a compound of the verb "ἀλέξω" (alexō), "to ward off, to avert, to defend" and the noun "ἀνδρός" (andros), genitive of "ἀνήρ" (anēr), "man".
It is an example of the widespread motif of Greek names expressing "battle-prowess", in this case the ability to withstand or push back an enemy battle line.
P.S. Nice to meet you Aleksander :)
