إن الروافض ليسوا من المسلمين وإنما هي فرقة حدثت أولا بعد موت رسول الله بخمس وعشرين سنة وكان مبدؤها إجابة من خذله الله تعالى لدعوة من كاد للإسلام وهي طائفة تجري مجرى اليهود والنصارى في الكذب والكفر . وقال رحمه الله عنهم :
والقوم بالجملة ذوو أديان فاسدة وعقول مدخولة وعديموا حياء نعوذ بالله من الضلال ( الفصل ) 4 / 179 .. وقال : فعلى هؤلاء لعنة الله ولعنة اللاعنين ولعنة الناس أجمعين ما دام لله في عالمه خلق
