US forces have been marching into southern Afghanistan to fight the Taliban but there is little sign of their presence.

As thousands of US soldiers backed by Afghan and British forces are fanning out across Helmand province, the offensive is believed to be just part of a wider operation to hunt down Taliban fighters across the country.
