Aish HaTorah of Washington, DC, is an independently managed and supported branch of Aish HaTorah International.

The main goal of Aish DC/MD/VA is to tie every Jew to a pride in his or her heritage, to a confidence in our future and to an appreciation of how precious involvement with the Jewish people can be for ourselves, our children, and all humanity.

Our Mission Statement is as follows. All of us at Aish DC are dedicated to the fulfillment of each and every word:

Through dynamic educational experiences, Aish DC inspires Jews of all backgrounds to connect to their shared Torah heritage and empowers them to take responsibility for the Jewish people. * Dynamic Educational Experiences: This past year we offered myriad classes and programs, such as the sold out "Discovery" Seminar, "Supper Under the Stars," Campus Leadership Courses, trips to Israel for students from area universities and classes throughout the city every day of the week. Our Shabbat program grows each and every week. Friday night features "Shabbat Unplugged," where novices have learned to bring in Shabbat with prayer, song and dance. Several families have moved into the neighborhood to be even closer to the action and the pleasure of being part of a caring, growing community. * Jews of All Backgrounds: Our classes and programs draw Jews from all affiliations and even non-affiliation. Our constant message that Judaism is not "all or nothing" creates an open atmosphere of learning. Everyone respects each other's journey. * Shared Torah Heritage: The one thing we all have in common is that we share the same Torah, every word and every letter. An Aish program is where the Torah comes alive, so everyone can learn and grow at their own pace. * Take Responsibility: "The job is too great to leave to the rabbis." Many who learn with Aish have now taken real responsibility in their communities. They head boards of Day Schools, recruit students on campus, raise money for scholarships to Israel and support the many Jewish institutions that make our cities great.
