Lead poisoning in children and adults can have severe consequences on health both physical and mental. Physical effects require high doses whereas mental problems can emerge at relatively low doses. All the mechanisms are not fully known and proven so it can't yet be stated unequivocally that lead poisoning causes mental problems, more or less the way smoking and cancer used to be. But a lot is known, like lead concentrating in bone and being treatable with chelating agents like intravenous EDTA that trap lead atom by atom and cause it to be excreted. It's not a completely intractable problem. But it can often go untreated when it is unrecognized or denied.

Lead poisoning is associated with spontaneous aggression and antisocial behavior in both children and adults, and studies have found higher average levels in prison populations. The victims of lead poisoning easily fly into murderous rages and the victims of the victims sometimes wind up dead. So tragic that the metal poisoning wasn't detected and treated medically instead of destroying lives.

This channel was inspired by 'AgustusIII' at http://www.youtube.com/user/AgustusIII who appears to be a textbook example of the kind of mental and emotional symptoms expected in lead poisoning. Other heavy metals like mercury and cadmium could be involved too but the most common form of heavy metal poisoning is lead poisoning, with a number of possible sources. Indoor firing ranges, paint dust, soldering in poor ventilation, some old pipes and appliances, dishware, even leaded crystal will contaminate you with some amount of lead proportionate to its use. We all have some lead in us, it is a matter of less being much better than more and doing what we can to avoid exposure. Since the earliest warning signs are behavioral tending toward aggression and violence, those symptoms should not be allowed to go unexamined as they are clear warning signs. Observe the tightly wound rage in AgustusIII in the video to the right, the desire to lash out and hurt someone, almost anyone, for crossing his path and not agreeing with his extremist politics. He's brandishing a weapon and obliquely threatening the life of the President, just enough back from the edge though that neither the FBI nor YouTube has apparently taken him seriously yet. But this guy belongs in a psyche ward fast before he hurts himself if not someone else, and he needs to be tested for blood lead right away. If it's not lead causing his mental instability then he's just a regular mental case and needs professional care in an institution. But at the very least I would think and hope that YouTube has alerted the FBI by now so that they can be tracking him.
