You can print out your own paper score with a PDF file. There is lots of control over spacing and format.

With the MIDI version of SmartScore ($50) and the ENF files you can adjust the tempo and change the notes. You can drop out any or all other parts in ensembles. You can add optional notes and cadenzas. You can assign different instruments to different parts. It will all play on any PC.

With the full version you can transpose to any other key and change the lyrics.

These files are very helpful for learning a role or just an aria. You can of course also use them to post your own version of an aria on YouTube.

Currently I have the score of all of Don Giovanni online. I had planned to do Carmen next.

I sang about thirty opera roles with small to medium size companies in the SF Bay Area and the Washington DC area. I quit last year although I have been to a couple auditions in the last few months. UPDATE: I am lucky enough to usually get cast when I audition. I'm the right size (real big), the right age (real old) and the have the right voice for most bass opera roles. Alas I have gotten sick in rehersals the last three times I've attempted a come back. I'm quitting live singing for good.

The picture is from Don Giovanni. I was doing Commendatore. When I did Count Herbert in Schubert's "Die Verschworenen" the director thought I looked like John Wayne. So he instructed the costumers to make me look like the Duke in "Red River".

I had my own opera company for a short while. Our first conductor was the polymath Jeff Raskin. He's the father of the Macintosh. Our second conductor was Kent Nagano.

I'm a bass. I did the low roles like Sarastro, Osmin, and Caronte. I also did a lot of high roles like The Magistrate in Cardillac and Bartolo in Barber. If range was all there was to opera singing I could have been a contender.

Most of my postings are from the serious operas of Rossini. I like Verdi, Wagner and Puccini of course. I like Pavarotti too but YouTube doesn't need me to post those videos. There are hundreds of largely duplicative Pavarotti videos.
